A Cake for Every Wrong Occasion premiered at Young Filmmakers New York. An Official Selection for the Los Angeles Film Awards, Reel East Texas, and Best High School film at Austin Indie Fest. Kate Saltel won Best Young Filmmaker from Top Shorts for her work.

WESTLAKE FILM @ SXSW
Myles Kovalik’s experimental film Revue was selected for the prestigious, highly competitive SXSW Texas High School Shorts Program. Kovalik, Timo Nelson, and Jason Thomas will represent the film at festival. (Each was awarded a SXSW Film Badge!)
BIG 72 GOLD
Second Thoughts takes top prize in ATPI’s Big 72 Film Contest. Director Jason Thomas led an elite crew of Advanced Film students to write, shoot, and edit the film in under 72 hours.
UIL SEMI FINALISTS
Westlake Film has two films still standing as Semifinalists in the UIL Focus Film Festival. Congrats to the dynamic filmmaking duo Myles Kovalik and Timo Nelson who collaborated on both films: Waiting and Two of Me.
WEEKEND CHALLENGE
We partnered with AISD for the 1st Weekend Film Challenge. All teams raced the clock to produce a film that met contest requirements. All films screened at the Alamo Drafthouse. Westlake Film’s Superstition, led by Myles Kovalik, placed 3rd. (Yes, that’s Wyatt McIntyre!)
AUSTIN FILM FEST
Maureen & Astrid was selected to screen at the Austin Film Festival during the Young Filmmakers Program. This is a really big deal. Congrats to Myles Kovalik and crew!
NY LOCATION
Advanced Film Portfolio students traveled all the way to New York City to compete in the All-American High School Film Invitational. In less than 72 hours the crew produced, Needle in a Haystack, written and directed by Myles Kovalik, produced by Jack McMahon.

Official Selections! Maureen & Astrid by Myles Kovalik will play at the All American High School Film Festival. Kovalik partnered with Timo Nelson on the experimental film, Waiting—it will screen at AAHSFF, as well! Congrats filmmakers!
AYFF RUNNER UP
Congratulations Myles Kovalik & Timo Nelson. Their short film Waiting is Best of Fest Runner Up in Austin Youth Film Festival!! (And, Best Editing, as well.) Myles also earned Best Documentary Film for his Vietnam Project.
